Minister Joe O’Brien announces €120,150 funding allocation for Rush and Skerries Projects under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme

  • €64,350 allocated to facilitate the general refurbishment of Rush Community Centre

  • €55,800 allocated for Phase 4 of the Floraville Park Development in Skerries

Minister of State for Community Development, Charities and Integration, Joe O’Brien, today (29th April 2024), announces funding of €120,150 for projects in his local area of Fingal under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme. The scheme is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development, where Minister O’Brien is Minister of State.

The investment is being provided under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme with a particular emphasis on the revitalisation of rural town centres, which is a key objective of the Our Rural Future and Town Centre First Policies.

Announcing the funding, Minister Joe O’Brien said:

“I am delighted to announce funding of €120,150 for projects in Fingal today. The funding will go to two projects, the general refurbishment of Rush Community Centre and Phase 4 of the Development of Floraville Park in the centre of Skerries. These projects will rejuvenate Rush and Skerries and support the towns’ communities, something which I welcome.”

Welcoming the announcement, Councillor Karen Power said:

“I am thrilled to see the funding allocation for Phase 4 of works in Floraville. This much loved and much used amenity in the centre of Skerries has undergone significant redevelopment to ensure it can be used by all residents and visitors to the town and I am delighted to see this part of the works include play equipment for younger users of the space.”

Since the Town and Village Renewal Scheme was introduced in 2016, over €176 million has been approved for more than 1,700 projects across the country.
