Minister Joe O’Brien welcomes the announcement of the Community Monuments Fund 2024.

Under the fund, projects in Fingal will receive the following:

  • St Columba’s Towers to receive an award of €120,000

  • Balrothery Tower House has been awarded €110,904.75

  • Lanistown Castle is receiving €120,000

  • St Doulough’s Ecclesiastical Site will see an award of €29,950

  • St Fintan’s Ecclesiastical Site will receive €30,000 under the fund

 

Today (Monday 15th April 2024), Minister of State for Community Development, Charities and Integration, Joe O’Brien welcomes the Community Monuments Fund 2024.

 

The funding is split across three streams, and aims to conserve, maintain, protect and promote local monuments and historic sites. The schemes also provide important support for the employment of traditional craftspeople and conservation professionals and the preservation of traditional skills.

 

Welcoming the announcement, Minister of State Joe O’Brien said:

It is great to see the Community Monuments Fund announcements for 2024. I particularly welcome the funding announcements for sites and monuments in Fingal, which will see considerable investment under the fund to support their preservation and promotion.”

This fund will be a welcome addition to the supports for communities not only to preserve their local monuments and historical sites, but also to promote them. I am glad to see additional supports provided for traditional craftspeople and conservation professionals around the country.”
