Joe O’Brien TD Encourages Fingal Schools to Register for the Blue Star Programme
29th September, 2022
The Blue Star Programme is an education initiative for primary schools across Ireland, encouraging Irish pupils to get creative about Europe.
The programme teaches primary school pupils about European cultures, diversity and the EU through creative activities and projects which complement the national primary curriculum. The aim of the Programme is to foster better knowledge and understanding of the EU and how it affects our lives among Irish primary pupils through fun, creative classroom projects and activities. Primary schools carry out projects related to the History, Geography, Culture and Creativity, and Institutions of the EU. Over 1,000 schools have taken part since it was first launched in 2011.
Encouraging local schools to sign up for the programme, Joe O’Brien TD said:
“The Blue Star Programme represents a great opportunity for young people in Fingal to gain valuable knowledge of the EU from an early age. The programme encourages young people to think about Europe by exploring the history, geography, culture and creativity, and Institutions of the EU.
“It’s never too early to start leaning about our political institutions and how they shape and impact on our lives. This programme is a great opportunity to start the learning process for our next generation of citizens.”
