€344,083 Sports Funding for Fingal very welcome – Minister Joe O’Brien
Part of an overall investment of €40 million nationally
Minister Joe O’Brien has welcomed today’s announcement (22.04.2021) of an investment of €344,083 in sports funding for Fingal. The money is part of a national investment of €40 million in grants to National Governing Bodies for Sport (NGSs), High Performance Athlete Support and to the network of Local Sports Partnerships (LSPs) for 2021.
Minister O’Brien said:
“This investment is great news as it provides an opportunity for Sport Ireland to support a locally led safe return to sport and to further build the capacity of Local Sports Partnerships increasing their reach and impact in our community.”
Minister O’Brien continued:
“For Fingal the allocation of €344,083 to include the sum of €66,600 in programme funding and a sum of €12,000 in funding for Women in Sport is particularly welcome. The past year has been very challenging for the sports sector and has shown us yet again the importance of sport and physical activity in our lives and the vital contribution it makes to our physical and mental wellbeing.”
Sport Ireland have said that this funding, in addition to the recently allocated Covid-19 Grant Scheme, will provide stability and certainty to organisations throughout 2021. In line with previous years, a portion of the Core funding budget (‘Special Projects & Programmes’) will be ring fenced to assist with strategically important NGB related events and projects.
