Funding allocated from Urban Regeneration and Development Fund following successful application by FCC

Fingal TD and Minister of State at the Department of Rural and Community Development, Joe O’Brien along with Balbriggan Councillor Karen Power, welcomed the announcement of €25.4 million towards the Our Balbriggan Rejuvenation plan. The considerable funding is part of the ongoing work under the Our Balbriggan project which will revitalise the town making it an attractive place to live, work, visit and invest. The funding will see Fingal County Council deliver multi annual projects identified in the Our Balbriggan Rejuvenation Plan.

Speaking on the funding announcement Minister O’Brien said: “This announcement is a clear indication of our Governments commitment at a national level to the redevelopment of Balbriggan and will help our town to reach its full potential as a quality environment to live, do business and spend leisure time.”

Cllr Karen Power welcomed the new saying: “This funding will support projects that will enhance the quality of life for people in Balbriggan making the town a more attractive place in which to live, work, visit and invest.”

“It will help to further the ambitious vision contained in the Balbriggan Rejuvenation Plan 2019-2025 was the result of an historic community engagement which saw over 25% of residents outline their preferences for the future of our town.”

“A lot has been achieved since the launch of the plan in 2019, including, more recently the acquisition by Fingal County Council of key sites within the town. The work and funding will allow the council to establish a new green corridor at the heart of the town following the River Bracken through Millpond Park, through a transformed Quay Street to a reimagined Harbour, greatly enhancing the public space for locals and visitors.”

“Aoife and Breffni in the Our Balbriggan team lead the outstanding work on pulling together the application to the URDF and I am very excited to continue this work with them, the other local Councillors and the Balbriggan Leadership Group as the Our Balbriggan plan continues to gather pace and get things done.”
